This capital infusion aims to drive Research Grid’s research and development (R&D), expand its engineering teams, and support its planned expansion into the U.S. and Asian markets.
Addressing Pain Points in Clinical Trials
Founded in 2020 by Amber Hill, a former medical researcher with over 14 years of experience, Research Grid emerged from her frustration with the excessive administrative burden in clinical research. Hill noted that administrative tasks often drain valuable resources, creating inefficiencies that increase costs and delay patient access to new treatments. “The back office process is completely broken,” Hill said in an interview. “When multiplied across the industry, the costs for patients and research institutions are astronomical.”
Research Grid's suite of AI-powered tools, named Inclusive and TrialEngine, is designed to automate these manual processes, enabling researchers to focus on critical work instead of repetitive tasks. The two products streamline trial management by addressing common pain points, such as protocol error detection, data extraction, and workflow automation. The AI-powered platform also helps clinical researchers recruit more diverse study participants, addressing an industry need heightened by new Federal Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for inclusivity in trials. By simplifying participant recruitment, Research Grid aims to ensure trials are more representative, ultimately improving the accuracy and relevance of trial results.

In addition to bolstering its engineering team, Research Grid plans to enhance its sales and marketing capabilities to capture a larger share of the global clinical trials market, which is anticipated to surpass $95 billion within the next five years.
Fuel Ventures Partner Shiv Patel expressed optimism in Research Grid’s potential to become a leader in the industry, given the market's size and the demand for streamlined clinical trials. “Every investor wants to find unicorns, and with the clinical trial market expected to reach over $95 billion in the next five years, we believe in the mission, proposition, and trajectory of Research Grid,” Patel stated.
