Quanscient Secures €5.2M Funding to Transform Engineering Simulation with Quantum Technology

Funding will accelerate Quanscient's innovative quantum algorithms and multiphysics simulation platform

Finnish technology company Quanscient announced a successful funding round, securing €5.2 million to further its mission of revolutionizing engineering simulation through quantum technology. The funding round was led by Crowberry Capital, a prominent Nordic early-stage venture capital firm, and saw participation from Speen Holding, along with follow-on investments from and First Fellow. This significant capital injection positions Quanscient to enhance its multiphysics simulation platform, aiming to bring unprecedented capabilities into the quantum era.

Innovating Engineering Simulations

Quanscient stands at the forefront of engineering simulation technology, boasting the world's first computer-aided engineering (CAE) platform that integrates cloud-native multiphysics solvers with advanced cloud computing and future quantum integration. This innovative platform empowers engineers to achieve over a hundredfold increase in simulation throughput, enabling fully digital research and development processes. It addresses the complex technological challenges faced by industries engaged in next-generation projects such as fusion energy, advanced semiconductors, biomedical devices, automotive applications, and aerospace.

The company’s platform allows for advanced CAE simulations, which significantly minimize risks and improve product performance by facilitating the exploration of multiple design alternatives. This capability is especially crucial as traditional legacy CAE solutions often struggle to support the rapid iteration required in modern development processes. Quanscient's unique model of unlimited user access promotes smoother collaboration among large, geographically distributed teams, providing engineers with up to 100 times the simulation capacity compared to conventional solutions. This empowers them to tackle more complex problems and iterate at an accelerated pace.

Addressing Market Needs

Juha Riippi, co-founder and CEO of Quanscient, emphasized the necessity for improved tools in the competitive landscape of transformative technology development. He stated, “To stay competitive, companies developing transformative technologies need better tools to rapidly test scenarios, optimize designs, and speed up time-to-market. Our solution boosts simulation capacity by 100 times, enabling engineers to iterate faster and tackle more complex challenges, leading to superior products and a quicker, lower-risk path to market.”

In addition to its strengths in cloud-native multiphysics simulation, Quanscient has quickly emerged as a leader in quantum algorithm development. The company has achieved a significant milestone by running a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation utilizing real quantum hardware, marking a new standard in engineering simulation. With plans to release its first quantum product pilot in early 2025, Quanscient is poised to reshape the capabilities of simulation technology.

Pioneering Quantum Integration

Quantum computing promises to deliver unmatched accuracy and speed in simulations, allowing engineers to unlock entirely new capabilities that were previously unattainable. Quanscient collaborates with industry leaders such as AWS, Intel, IBM, NVidia, and several quantum hardware companies, including IQM. This collaboration enhances their ability to push the boundaries of engineering simulation further.

The recent €5.2 million funding is seen as a pivotal moment for Quanscient as it embarks on an ambitious growth trajectory and international expansion. Riippi highlighted the company’s commitment to integrating pioneering quantum algorithms into their offerings, asserting that these advancements would transform the future of engineering.

Investment Backing and Future Vision

Jenny Ruth Hrafnsdottir, Founding Partner at Crowberry Capital, praised Quanscient's potential, stating, “With Quanscient’s multiphysics simulations, global companies solve their most complex engineering challenges faster and more efficiently than ever before. By offering superior multiphysics capabilities, Quanscient speeds up innovation and creates significant value across rapidly growing global industries.” She expressed excitement about the next-generation quantum algorithms that Quanscient is developing, recognizing the transformative impact they could have on simulation technology.

With this latest funding round, Quanscient is not only enhancing its platform but also solidifying its position as a leader in the integration of quantum computing with engineering simulations. As the demand for advanced solutions in complex R&D continues to rise, Quanscient’s innovative approach to multiphysics simulation, combined with its commitment to quantum integration, is set to revolutionize how engineers design and develop products across various industries. The future of engineering simulation is undeniably in the quantum era, and Quanscient is poised to lead the charge.
