Eleport Acquires TurboVolt GmbH to Expand into Croatia and Slovenia

Already the largest EV charging operator in the Baltics, Eleport’s network will now cover six countries

In a significant move for the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Eleport, a leading public charging network operator, has announced its expansion into Croatia and Slovenia. This strategic growth comes through acquiring TurboVolt GmbH, an Austrian-based Charge Point Operator, marking a new chapter in Eleport's ambitious plans for the region.

Eleport's Growing Footprint

Already established as the largest EV charging operator in the Baltic states and the fourth largest in Poland, Eleport's acquisition of TurboVolt extends its reach to six countries. This expansion solidifies the company's position as a major player in the CEE region's EV charging infrastructure.

Eleport currently manages over 800 EV chargers across the Baltics and Poland, with an ambitious goal to deploy 10,000 DC-powered fast charging points throughout Central Eastern Europe by 2030. This latest move brings them closer to achieving this target and reinforces their commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

The Acquisition Strategy

The strategic acquisition of TurboVolt aligns perfectly with Eleport's long-term vision. TurboVolt, founded in 2022, has focused on installing high-powered EV charging hubs at prime retail locations across Austria and CEE. Their expertise and existing infrastructure provide Eleport with a solid foundation for expansion into the Croatian and Slovenian markets.

Expansion Plans in Croatia and Slovenia

The initial phase of Eleport's expansion includes the launch of 17 high-powered EV charging hubs at Supernova and SES shopping centers in Croatia and Slovenia. These state-of-the-art hubs will feature up to 12 user-friendly, high-speed chargers per location, each capable of delivering up to 300 kW of power per socket.

The first hubs are set to open in key locations:

  • Croatia: Zadar and Zagreb

  • Slovenia: Ljubljana

This strategic placement ensures convenient access for EV drivers in major urban centers, addressing the growing demand for reliable charging infrastructure.

Commitment to Sustainability

A noteworthy aspect of Eleport's expansion is its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. All chargers across Eleport's network, including those in the newly acquired territories, run exclusively on 100% renewable energy. This approach is certified by the European Union, underscoring the company's dedication to fostering a greener future for transportation.

Leadership Perspectives

Jakub Miler, CEO of Eleport, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating that it represents a crucial step in the company's long-term plan to become the leading EV charging network in CEE. He emphasized the alignment of TurboVolt's strategy with Eleport's goals and looked forward to accelerating the deployment of reliable, fast-charging infrastructure.

Anthony Hinde, CEO of TurboVolt, shared this sentiment, highlighting the perfect alignment between the two companies' visions for expanding access to sustainable transportation solutions. He expressed confidence in their combined ability to provide market-leading solutions for high-speed charging in CEE markets that urgently require such infrastructure.

Impact on Customer Experience

The expansion and integration of TurboVolt's network into Eleport's existing infrastructure promise to significantly enhance the EV charging experience for customers across the region. EV drivers can expect greater accessibility, convenience, and consistency in their charging experiences, supported by Eleport's commitment to competitive pricing and reliable service.

Eleport's acquisition of TurboVolt and subsequent expansion into Croatia and Slovenia represent a significant milestone in the development of EV charging infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe. As the company moves closer to its goal of 10,000 charging points by 2030, this strategic growth not only strengthens Eleport's market position but also contributes to the broader adoption of electric vehicles in the region. By providing accessible, fast, and environmentally friendly charging solutions, Eleport is playing a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable transportation across CEE.
